Week of October 26 - November 01, 2015

“Disease of the nervous system is the cause of all other diseases. Self-Realization Fellowship teaches a special technique by which you can revive damaged nerve tissues by sending energy into them. Each cell and tissue in the nervous system is an intelligent, living thing. You should know how to treat nerve cells so they will not be destroyed. Keep them cheerful always, by calmness and right thoughts.”

This Week's Services:

Please join us this Sunday, October 25 for our weekly Service Reading entitled “Ways to Overcome Nervousness”. The service is from 11 am to 12 noon. Sunday School for children ages 3-12 is also held from 11 am to 12 noon. Parents with younger children may enjoy the service from the infant room located in the Sunday School building. The Reading Service is preceded by a meditation service from 10 to 10:45 am, and by group practice of the Self-Realization Fellowship Energization Exercises at 9:40 am. The Center is open to the public for services and special activities.

Weekly Affirmation:

“The moment I am restless or disturbed in mind I will retire to silence and meditation until calmness is restored.”

(Metaphysical Meditations)

• In preparation of our 10th Anniversary of Chapel Dedication event this Sunday, November 1, we are going to cancel the open meditation this Saturday.

• Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday, November 01 at 2:00 am. Please remember to turn your clocks back one hour and enjoy the extra sleep (or meditation) time before coming to the chapel on Sunday.

• The deadline to register for our Fall silent retreat at Villa de Matel from Friday, November 13 through Sunday, November 15, with an optional extra day on Thursday, November 12 is this Sunday, November 01. We ask for a non-refundable deposit of $30, payable to Villa de Matel. Please give your registration form and check to Jose Guzman or Michaele O'Dwyer.

• Guruji said that “Group Meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism.”  Our Center hosts group meditations every Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:30 PM and from 7:00 to 10:00 PM on the first Thursday of the month. Meditations last about 45 minutes, along with a reading and chants. Devotees may enter or leave the service quietly at any time. These meditations are an excellent way to prepare for our upcoming all day Christmas meditation on Saturday, December 19.

• Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held on Saturday, November 7. We dedicate only one day a month to the care and upkeep of Master’s sanctuary in Houston so that it remains a magnet for those seeking to meditate together or to learn of Self-Realization Fellowship for the first time. If you are planning to attend, please let Sudha know by emailing him at vasudhaven@yahoo.com. This will help us to organize head count for the Day of Service.

• Please join us this Sunday after service as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Chapel Dedication. A catered Indian lunch meal will be served in the Sunday School building from Noon till 1:00 pm, followed by a presentation and kirtan performance program held in the Chapel from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm.
