“When you do your work with the thought of serving God, you receive His blessings”

- Paramahansa Yogananda

Our Services

Our center has a variety of services open to all. Each includes prayers, readings from the works of Paramahansa Yogananda, chanting, and most importantly, meditation. In addition, we have a Sunday school program for the young children and a teen group for those older. There are also social events where you can meet devotees and learn more about Self-Realization Fellowship and the Houston Center.

  • Reading Service

    Reading Service

Each Sunday there is a service in the chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 12 (noon). It includes periods of chanting, short meditations, readings from the Bible and Bhagavad Gita, and a reading taken from the writings of Paramahansa Yogananda. It is preceded by a meditation service from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m..

  • Meditation Service

In addition to the meditation held before the reading service on Sunday, there are a number of services in the chapel dedicated exclusively to meditation. Every first Thursday of the month, an evening meditation service is held from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. All-day meditations are planned on special days like Christmas and select Saturdays. All are welcome.

  • Sunday School

Sunday school for children ages 3 to 12 is held in the Sunday school building at the same time as the Sunday service. For younger children we have a parent-infant room in the Sunday school building where a parent may attend to the child while watching the Sunday service on closed-circuit TV. On the first Sunday of the month the teen group (ages 13 to 18) meets from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 (noon).
