Week of Nov 18th - Nov 24th, 2013

"We should not think only of the body but of the Spirit. If we attain perfection in the Spirit we shall find perfection also in the body. Many people are continually busy looking after their bodily welfare but neglect the development of their mind. The key to all power lies in the mind.”

 - Paramahansa Yogananda

This Week's Services:

Please join us this Sunday, November 24 for our weekly Service Reading entitled “Limited and Unlimited Methods of Healing". The service is from 11 am to 12 noon. Sunday School for children ages 3-12 is also held from 11 am to 12 noon. Parents with younger children may enjoy the service from the infant room located in the Sunday School building. The Reading Service is preceded by a meditation service from 10 to 10:45 am, and by group practice of the Self-Realization Fellowship Energization Exercises at 9:40 am.

Weekly Affirmation:

“Since Thine indelible image of perfection is in me, teach me to wipe away the superficial stains of ignorance and to see that Thou and I are one.”

  • Our monthly all-day meditation retreat will be held in the chapel this Saturday, November 23 beginning at 9:00 am with group practice of the SRF Energization Exercises, and ending at 4:00 pm. There will be a break from 1:00 to 1:30 pm. All are welcome to attend at any time during the day, but we ask that you enter or exit the chapel only during chants or readings. This is an excellent opportunity to prepare for the all-day Christmas meditation.
  • The program for the upcoming Monastic Visit from Thursday, December 12 to Sunday, December 15 has been finalized and can be viewed by clicking on this link.
  • Our next Day of Service and Fellowship is on Saturday, December 7, and in addition to the regular chores, we will be also decorating the chapel for Christmas and getting everything ready for the upcoming monastic visit. We are therefore planning for an extended day with a big lunch. If you are planning to attend, we request that you please inform Sudha (vasudhaven@yahoo.com) by Monday, December 2, as this will help us organize the head count for lunch.
  • We are happy to announce that the Kirtan group will be playing in the Chapel on Sunday, December 1 and Sunday, December 8 from 9:00 am - 9:30 am.
  • Please join us this Sunday, November 24 after service in the Sunday School building for our extended Juice Social in order to celebrate the Thanksgiving special holiday in true spiritual fellowship.
