Week of Nov 11th - Nov 17th, 2013

"Don’t expect to attain peace and happiness from life experiences. You have to find peace and happiness within yourself. This should be your new attitude toward life: no matter what your experiences are, you are going to enjoy them, in the same way you enjoy viewing the pleasant or painful experiences of another person in a motion picture.”

 - Paramahansa Yogananda

This Week's Services:

Please join us this Sunday, November 17 for our weekly Service Reading entitled “Gaining the Wealth of Inner Happiness". The service is from 11 am to 12 noon. Sunday School for children ages 3-12 is also held from 11 am to 12 noon. Parents with younger children may enjoy the service from the infant room located in the Sunday School building. The Reading Service is preceded by a meditation service from 10 to 10:45 am, and by group practice of the Self-Realization Fellowship Energization Exercises at 9:40 am.

Weekly Affirmation:

“Let my soul smile through my heart, and let my heart smile through my eyes, that I may scatter Thy rich smiles in sad hearts.”

(Metaphysical Meditations).

  • Our next meeting of the Bhagavad Gita Study Group will be held in the chapel this Sunday, November 17 at 12:45pm. This group is open to all members and friends who wish to read and meditate upon Paramahansa Yogananda’s spiritual interpretation of the Bhagavad Gita – God Talks with Arjuna. We hope that you are able to attend.
  • Our monthly all-day meditation retreat will be held in the chapel next Saturday, November 23 beginning at 9:00 am with group practice of the SRF Energization Exercises, and ending at 4:00 pm. There will be a break from 1:00 to 1:30 pm. All are welcome to attend at any time during the day, but we ask that you enter or exit the chapel only during chants or readings. This is an excellent opportunity to prepare for the all-day Christmas meditation.
  • We will a have a Special Business Meeting this Sunday, November 17 in the Chapel immediately following the healing service. The purpose of this meeting is to vote on the new Articles of Association, which is the governing document of the group and will hopefully exempt us from the property tax for 2013.
  • A copy of the monthly letter identifying the Center’s “work in progress” activities and events can be found by clicking on this link. If you are interested in serving for any of these events or projects, please notify the Managing Team or the respective Committee Chairperson. The monthly letter is also posted on the Bulletin Board in the Flower Room.
  • We are happy to announce that the Kirtan group will be playing in the Chapel on Sunday, December 1 and Sunday, December 8 from 9:00 am - 9:30 am.
  • Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
