Week of February 12 - February 18, 2018

“The secret of true religion lies in the cave of stillness, in the cave of wisdom, in the the cave of the spiritual eye.  By concentration on the point between the eyebrows and by delving into the depths of silence, one can find answers to all the religious queries of the heart."

Paramahansa Yogananda

• Our last Day of Service and Fellowship has been rescheduled due to bad weather and it will be held this Saturday, February 17 starting at 8:30 am. If you are planning to attend, please let Sudha know by emailing him at vasudhaven@yahoo.com as this will help us to organize head count for lunch on the Day of Service.

• Our next meeting of the Bhagavad Gita Study Group will be held in the chapel this Sunday, February 18 at 12:30pm. This group is open to all members and friends who wish to read and meditate upon Paramahansa Yogananda’s spiritual interpretation of the Bhagavad Gita – God Talks with Arjuna. We hope that you are able to attend.

• As previously announced, our Houston Center will be hosting a Public Lecture and Kriya Tour from Friday, April 6 to Sunday April 8 with Brother Bhumananda and Br. Lynn. The public lecture entitled ‘Finding Inner Peace Through Meditation’ will be held on Friday April 6 at the Unity Church from 7:00 pm onward and all are welcome to attend. Flyers for the public lecture are now available in the chapel foyer and we especially need volunteers to help us with distribution of the flyers. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Saraj Gupta or Surendra. We also encourage all our members and friends to help us spread the word through “bring-a-friend” campaign by inviting your friends and family members to attend the public lecture on Friday, April 6.

• Our monthly all-day meditation retreat will be held next Saturday, February 24. This month we will have an open, 12 hour non-conducted meditation from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. You are welcome to join us at any time but we ask that you sign in when you arrive and that you enter and exit the chapel quietly.

• Our Center hosts a lesson study group every Monday evening from 7:00pm to 8:00pm in the chapel. Devotees take turns reading a paragraph from a given SRF lesson, followed by a short meditation to assimilate that portion of the teaching. There is a group meditation from 8:00 pm to 9:00pm. The lesson study group is open to all SRF lesson students, and we hope that you are able to attend.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
