Week of Oct 28th - Nov 3rd, 2013

"We are not as big as we think we or imagine; we are only as big as we act. So act from today on your desire to know God. Make the effort now to cultivate His friendship, without ignoring your worldly duties. Perform your worldly duties with the thought that you are realizing Him through them, and thus are pleasing Him.”

 - Paramahansa Yogananda

This Week's Services:

Please join us this Sunday, November 3rd for our weekly Service Reading entitled “Harmonizing Work and Meditation". The service is from 11 am to 12 noon. Sunday School for children ages 3-12 is also held from 11 am to 12 noon. Parents with younger children may enjoy the service from the infant room located in the Sunday School building. The Reading Service is preceded by a meditation service from 10 to 10:45 am, and by group practice of the Self-Realization Fellowship Energization Exercises at 9:40 am.

Weekly Affirmation:

“Life is a struggle for joy all along the way. May I fight to win the battle on the very spot where I now am.”

(Paramahansa Yogananda)

Daylight saving time ends this Sunday at 2 am. Remember to turn your clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night.

  • We are happy to announce that Brother Saralananda and Bramachari Klaus from the SRF Mother Center will be conducting the traditional all-day Christmas Meditation in our chapel on Saturday, December 14. A detailed program of activities is being planned with the monks from Thursday, December 12 to Sunday, December 15.
  • Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held this Saturday, November 2 starting at 9:00 am. We dedicate only one day a month to the care and upkeep of Master’s sanctuary in Houston so that it remains a magnet for those seeking to meditate together or to learn of Self-Realization Fellowship for the first time. If you are planning to attend, we ask that you please inform Frank by emailing him at n_sompa@yahoo.fr. This will help us to organize head count for the lunch on the Day of Service.
  • A brochure with detailed guidelines for group meditation at the Houston Center is now available in the foyer, for newcomers as well as for regular members. Please feel free to take one with you as you leave the chapel this Sunday.
  • Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
