This Week's Services:

Please join us this Sunday, September 10 for our weekly Service Reading entitled "Be a Smile Millionaire."  The service is from 11 am to 12 noon. Sunday School for children ages 3-12 is also held from 11 am to 12 noon.  Parents with younger children may enjoy the service from the infant room located in the Sunday School building.  The Reading Service is preceded by a meditation service from 10 to 10:45 am, and by group practice of the Self-Realization Fellowship Energization Exercises at 9:40am The Center is open to the public for services and special activities.

Announcements:

 

• This Saturday, September 9, our Chapel will remain open from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm for open meditation.

 

• Our next Harmonium Workshop will be held this Sunday, September 10 in the chapel. This workshop is open to all members and friends who are interested in either joining the Kirtan Group or would simply like to learn how to play the SRF cosmic chants on the harmonium. If you own a personal harmonium, we request that you please bring it with you to the workshop. If you have any questions about the workshop, or do not have a harmonium of your own, you may contact Arjun (arjunraghuraman@gmail.com) or Jahnavi.

 

• Our next meeting of the Bhagavad Gita Study Group will be held in the chapel next Sunday, September 17 at 12:30pm. This group is open to all members and friends who wish to read and meditate upon Paramahansa Yogananda’s spiritual interpretation of the Bhagavad Gita – God Talks with Arjuna. We hope that you are able to attend.

 

• We will have our next business meeting on Sunday, September 24 at 12:30 pm in the Sunday School building to discuss the upcoming October Monastic Visit, 2018 Kriya Tour, progress of the Morgan Building committee, as well as highlights from the 2017 SRF convocation. All active members are encouraged to attend.

 

• Our Fall 2017 silent retreat at Villa de Matel will be held from Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8. Those who wish can arrive a day earlier, on Thursday, October 5 in the afternoon. An information sheet and registration forms are available in the foyer. As accommodations are limited, we ask that you register only if you are sure that you will attend on the indicated dates. The deadline for registration is Sunday, September 24. For more information, please contact Jose Guzman or Michaele O’Dwyer.

 

• We are pleased to inform you that in 2018 our Houston Center will be hosting a Public lecture Tour and Kriya Initiation from Friday, April 6 to Sunday, April 8. While, we are still finalizing the details of the event with consultation from Mother Center, we would like to make this announcement now so that interested devotees can begin preparations to receive Kriya and existing Kriyabans can mark their calendars to attend the event. Please note that Kriyabans would need to bring their Kriya Card for admittance to the ceremony. Also, new Initiates must register with Mother Center and receive a Blue Admittance Card prior to attending the Kriya Ceremony. If you are interested in volunteering or would like to serve during our Kriya Tour, please contact the Managing Team by emailing us at srfhouston@gmail.com
