Week of August 08 - August 17 , 2016

“Through meditation you come in contact with your real Self and you forget what you have been imagining you are.  You have been in a state of hallucination, thinking that you are a mortal, struggling and suffering.  Every day you should give attention to your true status.’’

                                                      - Paramahansa Yogananda

Announcements:

• The Kirtan Workshop on Sunday, August 14 has been cancelled.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  Please join us at the next workshop on Sunday, September 11.  If you have any questions please email us at srfhouston@gmail.com.

• The birth and mahasamadhi of our SRF line of gurus are very sacred occasions and are celebrated with special commemorative services at our Chapel. These commemorative services are especially important for all devotees, as the blessings of the masters are especially strong during these days. Therefore, we encourage and urge everyone to attend. Our next commemorative service is Janmashtami, celebrating the birth of Krishna, which will be held on Thursday, August 25.   Please mark your calendar.   An information sheet on commemorative services is available in our chapel foyer.

• For those planning on attending the Janmashtami commemorative service please be aware that the Hare Krishna Temple across the street will also be celebrating on the same day.    This means that parking will be very limited to our small parking lot and some possible street parking on Golf Street.  Please make arrangements to take extra time when arriving at the chapel.

• Our next meeting of the Bhagavad Gita Study Group will be held in the chapel on Sunday, August 21 at 12:30pm.  This group is open to all members and friends who wish to read and meditate upon Paramahansa Yogananda’s spiritual interpretation of the Bhagavad Gita – God Talks with Arjuna. We hope that you are able to attend.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
