Week of August 01 - August 07 , 2016

“The Lord is the only reality.  We should always pray that no test or temptation will ever have the power to make us forget Him.”

Announcements:

• Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held on Saturday, August 06.   We dedicate only one day a month to the care and upkeep of Master’s sanctuary in Houston so that it remains a magnet for those seeking to meditate together or to learn of Self-Realization Fellowship for the first time. We encourage everyone to join us and share this special day of Service and Fellowship with other devotees. A delicious vegetarian lunch will be provided for all those who attend, so please email Sudha (vasudhaven@yahoo.com) to help us get an accurate headcount.

• Our next Kirtan Workshop will be held on Sunday, August 14 in the chapel. This workshop is open to all members and friends who are interested in either joining the Kirtan Group or would simply like to learn how to play the SRF cosmic chants on the harmonium. If you own a personal harmonium, we request that you please bring it with you to the workshop. If you have any questions about the workshop, or do not have a harmonium of your own, you may contact Arjun or sending an email to srfhouston@gmail.com

• The birth and mahasamadhi of our SRF line of gurus are very sacred occasions and are celebrated with special commemorative services at our Chapel. These commemorative services are especially important for all devotees, as the blessings of the masters are especially strong during these days. Therefore, we encourage everyone to attend. Our next commemorative service is Janmashtami, celebrating the birth of Krishna, which will be held on Thursday, August 25.   Please mark your calendar.   An information sheet on commemorative services is available in our chapel foyer.

• Guruji said that “Group Meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism.”  Our Center hosts group meditations every Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:30 PM and from 7:00 to 10:00 PM on the first Thursday of the month. Meditations last about 45 minutes, along with a reading and chants. Devotees may enter or leave the service quietly at any time. We hope that you are able to attend.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
