Week of July 04  - July 10, 2016

“He who is wise does his best to overcome difficulties, but he smiles, first, last, and all the time.  There is no better panacea for sorrow, no better revivifying tonic, than smiles.  There is no greater power with which to overcome failure than a real smile.’’

Announcements:

• Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held this Saturday, July 09.  We dedicate only one day a month to the care and upkeep of Master’s sanctuary in Houston so that it remains a magnet for those seeking to meditate together or to learn of Self-Realization Fellowship for the first time. Due to the Summer heat we will begin earlier in the morning at 7:30 am but you are welcome to come at any time.  We encourage everyone to join us and share this special day of Service and Fellowship with other devotees. A delicious vegetarian lunch will be provided for all those who attend, so please email Sudha (vasudhaven@yahoo.com) to help us get an accurate headcount.

• Our next Kirtan Workshop will be held this Sunday, July 10 in the chapel. This workshop is open to all members and friends who are interested in either joining the Kirtan Group or would simply like to learn how to play the SRF cosmic chants on the harmonium. If you own a personal harmonium, we request that you please bring it with you to the workshop. If you have any questions about the workshop, or do not have a harmonium of your own, you may contact Arjun by emailing him at arjunraghuraman@gmail.com.

• If you are planning to attend the 2016 SRF World Convocation, please also consider participating in the Center Representatives Conference which will be held in the Catalina Ballroom at the Bonaventure Hotel on Saturday, August 06, from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Please contact the Managing Team by sending an email to srfhouston@gmail.com by this Sunday, July 10 if you would like to register for this conference.

• Guruji said that “Group Meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism.” Our Center hosts group meditations every Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:30 PM and from 7:00 to 10:00 PM on the first Thursday of the month. Meditations last about 45 minutes, along with a reading and chants. Devotees may enter or leave the service quietly at any time. We hope that you are able to attend.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
