Week of March 28 - April 03, 2016

“Within the gross vibration of flesh is the fine vibration of the cosmic current, the Life Energy; and permeating both flesh and Life Energy is the most subtle vibration, that of consciousness.’’

 - Paramahansa Yogananda

This Week's Services:

Please join us this Sunday, April 03 for our weekly Service Reading entitled “Healing by Knowing the Nature of Creation.” The service is from 11 am to 12 noon. Sunday School for children ages 3-12 is also held from 11 am to 12 noon. Parents with younger children may enjoy the service from the infant room located in the Sunday School building. The Reading Service is preceded by a meditation service from 10 to 10:45 am, and by group practice of the Self-Realization Fellowship Energization Exercises at 9:40 am. The Center is open to the public for services and special activities.

Weekly Affirmation:

“O Father, Thine unlimited and all-healing power is in me.  Manifest Thy light through the darkness of my ignorance.  Wherever this healing light is present, there is perfection. Therefore, perfection is in me.’’

• Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held this Saturday, April 02. We dedicate only one day a month to the care and upkeep of Master’s sanctuary in Houston so that it remains a magnet for those seeking to meditate together or to learn of Self-Realization Fellowship for the first time. We encourage everyone to join us and share this special day of service with other devotees. A delicious vegetarian lunch will be provided for all those who attend, so please email Sudha (vasudhaven@yahoo.com) to help us get an accurate headcount.

• Our monthly all-day meditation retreat will be held next Saturday, April 09. This month we will have an open, 12 hour non-conducted meditation from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. You are welcome to join us at any time but we ask that you sign in when you arrive and that you enter and exit the chapel quietly.

• Our next Kirtan Workshop will be held on Sunday, April 10 in the chapel. This workshop is open to all members and friends who are interested in either joining the Kirtan Group or would simply like to learn how to play the SRF cosmic chants on the harmonium. If you own a personal harmonium, we request that you please bring it with you to the workshop. If you have any questions about the workshop, or do not have a harmonium of your own, you may contact Arjun by emailing him at arjunraghuraman@gmail.com.

• As previously announced, we are hosting the ‘’India Night’’ event again this year on Saturday, April 23 from 5:00 PM onward. This event is open to all devotees, family and friends.  We encourage everyone to please RSVP by Friday, April 15 either by visiting our website www.srfhouston.org or by filling out the sign-up sheet in the foyer. A suggested donation of $10 per person is requested to attend. Your donations will be used to help cover the costs of the India Night event. Donations can be made either online through our website or in person by cash or check. Checks can be made out to "Houston Meditation Group" with the memo indicating "India Night". For cash donations, please put your donation amount in an envelope and place it in the basket in the Chapel foyer.  We hope to see you there!

• Our Spring silent retreat at Villa de Matel will be held from Friday, April 29 through Sunday, May 1, with an optional extra day on Thursday, April 28. The registration deadline is Sunday, April 17. Because accommodations are limited, we ask that you register only if you are certain that you will attend. Detailed information and registration forms are available in the foyer.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
