Week of September 28 - October 04, 2015

“You can only know about the flavor of an orange after tasting it. You cannot know what it is really like by listening to a talk about it. So it is with truth. If you do not make an effort to know truth, to perceive it beneath the veils that hide it, you will not discover your own real nature and will therefore remain at the mercy of the outside forces of “circumstances”.”

 - Paramahansa Yogananda

This Week's Services:

Please join us this Sunday, October 04 for our weekly Service Reading entitled “The Light of Truth Eternal”. The service is from 11 am to 12 noon. Sunday School for children ages 3-12 is also held from 11 am to 12 noon. Parents with younger children may enjoy the service from the infant room located in the Sunday School building. The Reading Service is preceded by a meditation service from 10 to 10:45 am, and by group practice of the Self-Realization Fellowship Energization Exercises at 9:40 am. The Center is open to the public for services and special activities.

Weekly Affirmation:

“I will guide my ship of life, ever beholding the polestar of Thy peace shining in the firmament of my deep meditation.”

• In preparation of the Chapel's 10th Anniversary, the Maintenance & Landscaping Committees will be coordinating several work parties in order to lay a patio in our back garden. The work will be conducted on Saturdays and Sundays starting this week. If you would like to help, please contact Danny at danny.and.marijana@gmail.com or Corey at coreymolino@gmail.com.

• On Sunday, November 1 after service, we will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of our Chapel dedication with a presentation on our chapel’s history, as well as chants sung by our Kirtan group. We have also planned a catered Indian lunch that day. If you are planning to attend, we encourage you to please RSVP by emailing us at srfhouston@gmail.com by Sunday, October 18 so we can have an accurate head count for lunch. A sign-up sheet is also available in our chapel foyer.

• Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held on Saturday, October 10. We dedicate only one day a month to the care and upkeep of Master’s sanctuary in Houston so that it remains a magnet for those seeking to meditate together or to learn of Self-Realization Fellowship for the first time. If you are planning to attend, please let Sudha know by emailing him at vasudhaven@yahoo.com as this will help us to organize the head count for the lunch served on the Day of Service.

• All activities and events organized by the Houston Center are carried out by dedicated members and friends and we always welcome new volunteers. If you have a few hours to spare each month and would like to volunteer, please let us know by contacting a member of the Managing Team after services.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
