Week of June 29 - July 05, 2015

“Ancient Hindus found that death was the withdrawal of the electricity of life from the bulb of human flesh containing the wires of sensory and motor nerves to the different channels of outward expression. Just as electricity does not die when it is withdrawn from a broken bulb, so Life Energy is not annihilated when it retires from the involuntary nerves. Energy cannot die.”

This Week's Services:

Please join us this Sunday, July 05 for our weekly Service Reading entitled “Yoga Methods for Proving Reincarnation”. The service is from 11 am to 12 noon. Parents with younger children may enjoy the service from the infant room located in the Sunday School building. The Reading Service is preceded by a meditation service from 10 to 10:45 am, and by group practice of the Self-Realization Fellowship Energization Exercises at 9:40 am. The Center is open to the public for services and special activities.

Weekly Affirmation:

“Since Thine indelible image of perfection is in me, teach me to wipe away the superficial stains of ignorance and to see that Thou and I are One.”

(Scientific Healing Affirmations)

• Please note that there will be no Sunday School class this Sunday, July 05.

• Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held next Saturday, July 11. Due to the rising temperatures and the summer heat, we will plan on starting earlier around 7:30 am and ending the outside work sooner. We dedicate only one day a month to the care and upkeep of Master’s sanctuary in Houston so that it remains a magnet for those seeking to meditate together or to learn of Self-Realization Fellowship for the first time. If you are planning to attend, please let Sudha know by emailing him at vasudhaven@yahoo.com. This will help us to organize head count for the Day of Service.

• We are glad to announce that our Houston Center website now has new feature allowing members and friends to post new recipe ideas, as well as to view recipes posted by others. To access this feature, please click on the “Resources” link at the top of our website www.srfhouston.org and select “Recipes” from the drop down menu. We encourage you to please share your favorite recipes with us, and take advantage of those already posted.

• Guruji said that “Group Meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism.”  Our Center hosts group meditations every Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:30 PM and from 7:00 to 10:00 PM on the first Thursday of the month. Meditations last about 45 minutes, along with a reading and chants. Devotees may enter or leave the service quietly at any time. We hope that you are able to attend.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
