Week of April 20 - April 26, 2015

“Our Love should not be limited to those near us. The purpose of being together is that we may expand our love. Nature breaks the ties of family life in order that we may learn that the love we give our family must be extended to our neighbors, friends, country, and all nations. He who does not love his family cannot love his neighbor or his country. He who does not first love his country cannot learn to love all nations.”

 - Paramahansa Yogananda

This Week's Services:

Please join us this Sunday, April 26 for our weekly Service Reading entitled "What is Love?”. Sunday School for children ages 3-12 is also held from 11 am to 12 noon. The service is from 11 am to 12 noon. Parents with younger children may enjoy the service from the infant room located in the Sunday School building. The Reading Service is preceded by a meditation service from 10 to 10:45 am, and by group practice of the Self-Realization Fellowship Energization Exercises at 9:40 am. The Center is open to the public for services and special activities.

Weekly Affirmation:

"My Heavenly Father is love, and I am made in His image. I am the sphere of love in which all planets, all stars, all beings, all creation are glimmering. I am the love that pervades the whole universe.”

• Our monthly all-day meditation retreat will be held this Saturday, April 25. This month we will have an open, 12 hour non-conducted meditation from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. You are welcome to join us at any time but we ask that you sign in when you arrive and that you enter and exit the chapel quietly.

• Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, May 02. If you are planning to attend, please let Sudha know by emailing him at vasudhaven@yahoo.com as this will help us to organize the head count for the lunch served on the Day of Service.

• Our Spring Silent Retreat at Villa de Matel is scheduled for Friday, May 15 through Sunday, May 17, with an optional day on Thursday May 14. Rooms are limited so advanced reservations and a $30 non-refundable deposit are required no later than Sunday, May 3. A sign up form is available in the Chapel foyer, and please sign up only if you are sure that you will be attending. Please contact Jose Guzman or Michaele O'Dwyer if you have any questions.

• Guruji said that “Group Meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism.”  Our Center hosts group meditations every Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:30 PM and from 7:00 to 10:00 PM on the first Thursday of the month. Meditations last about 45 minutes, along with a reading and chants. Devotees may enter or leave the service quietly at any time. We hope that you are able to attend.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
