Week of December 01 - December 07, 2014

“No matter what forms of thought, reasoning, inference, or imagination we employ, we are still not face to face with Reality. Reason or thought may arrange and systematize facts of experience. It can endeavor to see things as a whole. It may try to penetrate into the mystery of the world. But its effort is hampered by the materials on which it works—facts of experience, sense impressions."

Announcements:

• Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held this Saturday, December 6, and in addition to the regular chores, we will be also decorating the chapel for Christmas. If you are planning to attend, we request that you please inform Sudha (vasudhaven@yahoo.com) as this will help us organize the head count for lunch. Note that Sunday School will purchase Christmas trees for the Sunday School Building and decorate them as part of class this Sunday, December 7.

• Guruji said that “Group Meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism.”  Our Center hosts group meditations every Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:30 PM and from 7:00 to 10:00 PM on the first Thursday of the month. Meditations last about 45 minutes, along with a reading and chants. Devotees may enter or leave the service quietly at any time. These meditations are an excellent way to prepare for our upcoming all day Christmas meditation on Saturday, December 20.

• Our all-day Christmas Meditation will be held in the chapel on Saturday, December 20 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Detailed instructions in English can be downloaded by clicking here and instructions in Spanish are available by clicking this link. These instructions will also be made available in the Chapel foyer. Please note that Group Energization Exercises will not be held and you can do your Energization Exercises individually before the meditation. All members and guests attending the meditation are required to enter the chapel before 9 am as we will not be able to admit anyone into the chapel once the meditation has started. Also, please click here to read the letter received from Mother Center to help devotees prepare for the All-Day Christmas Meditation.

• Mother Center is pleased to announce that beginning in 2015, Self-Realization Fellowship will be introducing new programs for teens and children. These will replace the overnight summer camps that have been held annually in the San Bernardino Mountains, and will provide a greater variety of options than SRF has been able to offer to date.  All interested teens and children 7 years of age and older are welcome to participate. Specific information on these programs including dates and location will be posted on the SRF website as plans are finalized.  For further information, please visit SRF website or call Youth Services at (818) 549-5160.

• On Sunday, December 21 we will have our annual Christmas potluck lunch immediately after services in the Sunday School building. If you would like to contribute with a dish, please fill out the sign-up form which will be placed in the Chapel foyer.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building. All members and guests are welcome to attend and greet other Houston Center members.
