Week of November 17 - November 23, 2014

“You demonstrate success or failure according to your habitual trend of thought. In you which is stronger – success thoughts or failure thoughts? If your mind is ordinarily in a negative state, an occasional positive thought is not sufficient to attract success. But if you think rightly, you find your goal even though you seem to be enveloped in darkness."

 - Paramahansa Yogananda

• Our monthly meditation retreat is scheduled for this Saturday, November 22 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This month we will be having our Kirtan group chanting during the afternoon portion from 1:30 - 4:00 pm. The format will be approximately 15 minutes of chanting followed by approximately 5 minutes of meditation. All are welcome to attend at any time during the day, but we ask that you enter or exit the chapel only during chants or readings.

• This Sunday, November 23 we will be having our annual Thanksgiving Potluck social after service in the Sunday School building in order to celebrate the Thanksgiving special holiday in true spiritual fellowship. A sign-up sheet is located in the Chapel Foyer if you would like to contribute a dish.

• Guruji said that “Group Meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism.”  Our Center hosts group meditations every Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:30 PM and from 7:00 to 10:00 PM on the first Thursday of the month. Meditations last about 45 minutes, along with a reading and chants. Devotees may enter or leave the service quietly at any time. These meditations are an excellent way to prepare for our upcoming all day Christmas meditation on Saturday, December 20.

• Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held on Saturday, December 6, and in addition to the regular chores, we will be also decorating the chapel for Christmas. If you are planning to attend, we request that you please inform Sudha (vasudhaven@yahoo.com) by Tuesday, December 2, as this will help us organize the head count for lunch.
