Week of October 20 - October 26, 2014

“The first principle of life is happiness. But it requires determination! You make up your mind not to do a thing and first thing you know you are doing it. Why? Because of the law of habit. You follow the wrong art of living. You must change your company."

 - Paramahansa Yogananda

(Metaphysical Meditations)

• Our monthly all-day meditation retreat will be held this Saturday, October 25. This month we will have an open, 12 hour non-conducted meditation from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. You are welcome to join us at any time but we ask that you sign in when you arrive and that you enter and exit the chapel quietly.

• This Sunday, October 26, we would like to invite all retreat volunteers to stay after services for an After-Service Work Party from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Refreshments will be served and we encourage everyone to participate in helping us prepare for the upcoming silent retreat.

• Guruji said that “Group Meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism.”  Our Center hosts group meditations every Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:30 PM and from 7:00 to 10:00 PM on the first Thursday of the month. Meditations last about 45 minutes, along with a reading and chants. Devotees may enter or leave the service quietly at any time. These meditations are an excellent way to prepare for our upcoming Silent Retreat at New Braunsfels from Friday, October 31 to Sunday, November 01.

• Next Thursday, October 30, we will be having a guided meditation and Satsanga in our chapel from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, which will be led by SRF Monastics - Brother Naradananda and Brahmachari Gordon. In order to prepare for this special event, we highly encourage everyone to attend our weekly Thursday evening meditations.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
