Week of October 06 - October 12, 2014

Even a particle of matter or a wave of energy is indestructible, as science has proved: The soul or spiritual essence of man is also indestructible. Matter undergoes change; the soul undergoes changing experiences. Radical changes are termed death, but death or a change in form does not change or destroy the spiritual essence."

 - Paramahansa Yogananda

• This Saturday, October 11, our Chapel will remain open from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm for open meditation.

• If you are already volunteering for our upcoming retreat at T-Bar-M Resort in New Braunfels, TX or if you would like to serve, we highly encourage you to attend the meeting this Sunday, October 12 in the chapel right after service. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the activities required for our upcoming Silent Retreat.

• Our Houston Center now has an active Young Adults group, which offers spiritual fellowship and service opportunities for members between the ages of 18-39 (not exclusive). Meetings are usually held once a month. On Saturday, October 18 the Young Adult group will be gathering for a Picnic lunch and Frisbee social activity in Bear Creek Park on at 11:00 AM. If you are interested in attending, or would like more information, please contact Elizabeth Bienek at bienekeli@hotmail.com

• Guruji said that “Group Meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism.”  Our Center hosts group meditations every Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:30 PM and from 7:00 to 10:00 PM on the first Thursday of the month. Meditations last about 45 minutes, along with a reading and chants. Devotees may enter or leave the service quietly at any time. These meditations are an excellent way to prepare for our upcoming Silent Retreat at New Braunsfels from Friday, October 31 to Sunday, November 01.

• On Thursday, October 30, we will be having a guided meditation and Satsanga in our chapel from 7:00 pm – 9:00pm, which will be led by SRF Monastics - Brother Naradananda and Brahmachari Gordon. In order to prepare for this special event, we highly encourage everyone to attend our weekly Thursday evening meditations.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
