Week of July 28th - August 3rd, 2014

“Spirit existed before God. God is the Creator of the universe, but Spirit is the Creator of God. Spirit is not the universe; Spirit is that which was and will be whether the universe does or does not exist. Spirit includes everything.”

 - Paramahansa Yogananda

This Week's Services:

Please join us this Sunday, August 03 for our weekly Service Reading entitled “The Hiding Place of God”. The service is from 11 am to 12 noon. Sunday School for children ages 3-12 is also held from 11 am to 12 noon. Parents with younger children may enjoy the service from the infant room located in the Sunday School building. The Reading Service is preceded by a meditation service from 10 to 10:45 am, and by group practice of the Self-Realization Fellowship Energization Exercises at 9:40 am. The Center is open to the public for services and special activities.

Weekly Affirmation:

As Thou art omnipresent, Thou canst not be but present in me. Omnipresence presupposes omnipotence and omniscience. These also are attributes of my soul. O Spirit, may I be able to unfold even a fragment of That which my inner Self contains.”

(Metaphysical Meditations)

• This Saturday, August 02, our Chapel will remain open from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm for open meditation.

• Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, August 16. Due to the rising temperatures and the summer heat, we will plan on starting earlier around 7:30 am and ending the outside work sooner. We dedicate only one day a month to the care and upkeep of Master’s sanctuary in Houston so that it remains a magnet for those seeking to meditate together or to learn of Self-Realization Fellowship for the first time. If you are planning to attend, please let Sudha know by emailing him at vasudhaven@yahoo.com as this will help us to organize the head count for the lunch served on the Day of Service.

• We are continuing to accept donations for the second phase of our Audio-Visual fundraising drive in an effort to raise the remaining $3,500 by Sunday, August 31. If you would like to make a donation, please deposit your cash or check in an envelope in the chapel or you can even make a donation on-line through our website www.srfhouston.org. When making the donation, please indicate that it is for Audio-Visual equipment. If you have any questions about this fundraising drive, please contact a member of the Managing Team.

• If you are planning to attend our fall retreat at the T Bar M Resort in New Braunfels, Texas, and haven’t yet registered, we encourage you to please visit our website www.srfhouston.org to reserve your room. The retreat will be held from Friday, October 31 through Sunday, November 02, and will be led by SRF Monastics - Brother Naradananda and Brahmachari Gordon.

• Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
