Week of June 23rd - June 29th, 2014

"We must practice fellowship with all nations. World Fellowship alone can stabilize the prosperity of all. We must feel the Fatherhood of God. As soon as we feel Him, we truly contribute to the world civilization and brotherhood."

 - Paramahansa Yogananda

This Week's Services:

Please join us this Sunday, June 29 for our weekly Service Reading entitled “Building World Unity". The service is from 11 am to 12 noon. Sunday School for children ages 3-12 is also held from 11 am to 12 noon. Parents with younger children may enjoy the service from the infant room located in the Sunday School building. The Reading Service is preceded by a meditation service from 10 to 10:45 am, and by group practice of the Self-Realization Fellowship Energization Exercises at 9:40 am. The Center is open to the public for services and special activities.

Weekly Affirmation:

"I bow to the Christ in the temple of all human brothers, in the temple of all life.”

(Metaphysical Meditations)

Announcements:

  • Our monthly all-day meditation retreat is scheduled for this Saturday, June 28 from 9 am to 4 pm. All are welcome to attend at any time during the day, but we ask that you enter or exit the chapel only during chants or readings. The SRF Energization Exercises will be conducted as a group at 9 am.
  • Our next Day of Service and Fellowship will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, July 12. Due to the rising temperatures and the summer heat, we will plan on starting earlier around 7:30 am and ending the outside work sooner. We dedicate only one day a month to the care and upkeep of Master’s sanctuary in Houston so that it remains a magnet for those seeking to meditate together or to learn of Self-Realization Fellowship for the first time. If you are planning to attend, please let Sudha know by emailing him at vasudhaven@yahoo.com as this will help us to organize the head count for the lunch served on the Day of Service.
  • We are glad to announce that the first phase of the A/V fundraising drive is now complete and we successfully raised $4500 towards the cabling upgrades. We thank all those who have contributed so far. The second phase was recently announced with a goal of raising the remaining $3500 by Sunday, August 31. If you would like to make a donation, please deposit your cash or check in an envelope in the chapel or you can even make a donation on-line through our website www.srfhouston.org. When making the donation, please indicate that it is for Audio-Visual equipment. If you have any questions about this fundraising drive, please contact a member of the Managing Team.
  • Please note that there will be no Sunday School class on Sunday, July 06.
  • Please join us this and every Sunday after the services for our weekly juice social in the Sunday School building.
